To understand the passionate defense of abortion, you need to understand its importance to the ideology of Progressivism.

Progressives change their name a lot, but you can use any of them—Marxism, Socialism, Progressivism, Liberalism—and you still end up with a belief system that has, at its center, the State.

And the State, to gain and retain absolute control (which is crucial to the ideology, as people will not willingly remain in it once it reaches its full powers if there is not absolute control) there can be no division of loyalties. This means the State has to trump both family and religion.

Abortion does both of these things. You cannot believe in God and the rights and wrongs taught by religion and still kill your helpless child. And certainly when you weaken the bond between a mother and her child by teaching her that the child can simply be eliminated from her life if it is inconvenient, you undermine family ties.

Abortion has the result of getting people to accept the idea that human life has no intrinsic value, but that the value of another life can be, under some circumstances, determined by someone else—even for self-serving reasons. When you can convince a population that it is moral and good and acceptable for parents to kill their offspring for any reason whatsoever, you introduce a moral relativity that can be manipulated in many ways. All we have to do to see the escalation of this moral relativity regarding the worth of a human life is to examine the curve of acceptability, regarding when an unborn child could be “morally” disposed of. Within just a decade or two that curve has gone from within the first trimester to the end of the second trimester to up to the moment of birth as long as the child has not taken a breath to a fully formed, autonomous, breathing baby outside the womb. That’s a pretty dramatic decline of what some find morally acceptable, so that now the American people have actually elected as their president a man who defends the “right” of a woman to place her child in a box in a cold room to die, alone and cold and hungry, just because she feels like it.

But this is good for Progressives, because it corrodes the family unit, it creates a distance between people and God, and it places the State at the center of life. The State becomes the arbiter of right and wrong, the definer of good and evil, the declarer of morality, the source of support and sustenance, the family and the church.

The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

I received the following letter in a couple of different e-mails. After further checking, I see it's posted on several Web sites.

The letter was originally sent to Glenn Beck and read on his show June 17, 2009. Once you read this, you will want to forward it to all of your friends...

AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR NATION'S LEADERSHIP

I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill. I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars. I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Big Tent Republicans

Republicans do need a "big tent" -- big enough to include all who wish to enter!

We do not, however, need to enlarge our tent by extending it further to the left, compromising our own principles, traditional values, and agenda, and becoming "Liberal-lites" in the hopes of enticing a few Liberals to enter. That strategy did not work with John McCain even as it alienated and turned off much of our base, yet we are now being told to give it another try... by those same self proclaimed "moderate" Republicans, the liberal media, and "helpful" analysts and political experts on the Left!

Republicans and Conservatives must do more to show Moderates and Independents that it's ultimately in their interest and that of America to vote for Republicans rather than the apologizing, anti-American, pro-UN, tax and spend, welfare fixated, Socio-Communist Liberals, and the Democrats who support and enable them!

With only a 5% shift in votes, Obama would not be president, and the Democrats would be the minority party!

NY-23: Pawlenty Endorses Hoffman

Tim Pawlenty is endorsing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman in the Nov. 3 special election for New York's 23rd District...

"We cannot send more politicians to Washington who wear the Republican jersey on the campaign trail, but then vote like Democrats in Congress on issues like card check and taxes," Pawlenty said in a statement to RedState. "After reviewing the candidates' positions [and seeing all those TEA leaves], I'm endorsing Doug Hoffman in New York's special election...

Hoffman has previously been endorsed by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin ... a poll today showing Hoffman in the lead.

"What makes this stand out even more than the Palin endorsement is that Pawlenty has not been seen as diverging with the Republican establishment," wrote RedState's Erick Erickson. "He's not seen as the maverick that Palin is. But Pawlenty has a huge amount of stature inside the Republican establishment, more so than Palin. That he is now willing to come out in favor of Hoffman is going to resonate among the Republican establishment in ways Palin's endorsement will not."

And they said Palin's political career and influence was over when she resigned as governor!

North Korea or Iran could nuke the U.S.

Not only does North Korea now have a missile and nuclear warhead that puts Guam and Japan within range of a nuclear strike, but possibly the U.S. mainland and Europe as well!

At least one of North Korea's nuclear capable missiles can be launched from a mobile launcher which can be carried on board a ship or barge in international waters and strike every city within the U.S. The same is or will soon be true of Iran, which is known to be receiving military assistance from North Korea.

Obama and the Democrats want Americans to believe it will be years before North Korea or Iran can strike or blackmail the U.S., Europe, Israel, and our allies with a nuclear missile, but that is not the case, especially if missiles are launched from barges or ships.

Even worse than the destruction of a major U.S. city, would be a nuclear missile detonated over the U.S. to create an Electromagnetic Pulse which would essentially disable our entire nation!

And what is Obama's strategy? First, Obama's administration blocked testing of a key missile defense radar during North Korea's last missile launch. Then Obama reduced needed funding for the missile defense system. Mostly, Obama just talks, and talks, and talks!

Biden warned Americans our enemies would test Obama, and further warned that "...it's not going to be apparent that we're right."

Will the American people wake up before Obama's continued talk and weak responses lead to a nuclear attack?

Contact your Senators and Representatives and ask them to vote against Obama's plans to cut and weaken America's missile defense system.

Obama sends American troops to war without the equipment they need to fight!

The Associated Press is reporting that the Obama administration is sending thousands of U.S. troops to Afghanistan without the equipment they need to fight the Taliban; although, the Obama administration is "concerned" about the problem.

Where are the reports from the media -- newspapers, television networks, and the Internet -- about Obama sending American troops to fight a war without the necessary equipment? Where are the calls from Congress for an investigation into why Obama is sending American troops into a war zone without the equipment they need? Where is the outrage from the Democrats and their Left-Wing Liberals over more troops being sent to fight the war?

Come on you Democrats, Liberals, and anti-war Left-Wingers, can't we get just a little outrage here? Just a tiny bit? A smidgen? You don't have to hit Obama with the full load of your outrage and hate like you did to President Bush!

There are some reporting that Obama is managing to lose the war in Afghanistan -- no surprise there! After all, Obama did manage to anger North Korea into restarting its nuclear weapons program, and somehow, managed to get the inspectors thrown out of the country -- no surprise there! And now, with Obama at the helm, the Taliban are taking large areas in Pakistan, with the real possibility the Taliban and Osama bin Laden could get their hands on one or more nuclear missiles; even though, Obama doesn't "think" that is "too likely" to happen "at this time" -- no surprise there!

All of this should be no surprise to anyone with a little common sense (largely lacking on the Left). Obama's weak stand, constant America-bashing, continual apologizing, and poor judgment will likely lead to even more fighting and deaths -- in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and around the world.

Our enemies and the bad guys around the world know that under Obama's weak "leadership" America will do little to stop them other than talk. Even Vice President Biden warned Americans the world would "test" Obama, and it wouldn't be apparent that Obama's decisions were correct. At least we do get some truth when Joe's allowed to say what he thinks!

And what does Obama do as threats of a possible rogue missile launch increase by the day? Why, the Obama administration denied the military's request to conduct a live test of a critical radar of the missile defense system for fear of "provoking" North Korea. Can't Obama understand it's North Korea doing the provoking? Apparently not!

Adding to his incompetence, Obama next cuts funding from the very missile defense system we need to protect us and our allies from a rogue nuclear missile strike. Then, believing all Americans are incapable of seeing through his smoke, mirrors, and snake oil sales pitches, Obama tries to mislead and snow the American people into believing those are big savings compared to the trillions of dollars he and his out-of-control Democrat Congress are spending like those proverbial drunken sailors!

We ask for answers, but all we get from Obama are more misleading and wishy-washy non-answers like: we don't anticipate... we don't foresee... we don't believe that's likely (at this time) ...we aren't planning (at this time) ...we don't think (at this time) ...we don't know (at this time).

Why should it be any surprise that the Obama administration don't know what they are doing in Afghanistan when they "claim" they didn't even know the White House sent Obama's Air Force One back-up jet on a mission to buzz New York City and scare the daylights out of its citizens!

And have we forgotten Obama's campaign promise to capture or kill Osama bin Laden? Obama has had over 100 days now to do just that, but all we here if more talk, talk, talk!

But then, the one thing Obama is good at is talking!

Specter: A tale of turncoats and broken promises!

Senator Arlen Specter said that prior to making his decision to switch to the Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Reid guaranteed him that he would retain his seniority on committees, to include a pledge that Specter would become the next chairman of the Judiciary Committee.

Now that Democrats have passed a resolution making Specter the most junior member on most committees, Reid said he never gave any such guarantees to Specter, saying he thought Specter understood the issue was always going to be left up to the rest of the Democratic caucus.

Perhaps Democrats don't really see Specter as one of them. Perhaps Democrats see how Specter used the Republican party through the years to get re-elected, and then turned against them on key issues and votes. Perhaps Democrats don't trust a turncoat who would abandon his party for his own personal gain, after realizing that his chances of being re-elected as a Republican this time were slim to none... because he repeatedly opposed the views of the Republican voters who elected him!

Specter and the Democrats deserve each other. Personally I wouldn't trust Specter either, whether a Republican or Democrat, but Democrats are stuck with him now, and they'd better calm down, make him happy, and watch out -- or Specter may turn on them too!

As for Specter's judgment, didn't he learn anything about Liberals and Democrats during his 30 years in the Senate? Never, ever believe or trust a Democrat, particularly a Liberal Democrat, on anything, but especially when it involves security -- yours or our nation's!

Government Waste: $400,000 to Study Sex and Drinking Habits of Homosexuals in Argentina

Each time we think we've seen it all, the government comes up with yet another even more idiotic and creatively stupid way to throw our tax dollars down the sewer -- in Argentina, the Dominican Republic, China, and who knows where else!

As long as the government is throwing away our tax dollars, why not just throw in another million or two and study the sex and mating habits of South American cockroaches!

According to NIH, this "project" will cost $403,902 -- at least!

Feds Will Spend $400,000 to Study Drinking and Sex Habits of Homosexuals in Argentina

(CNSNews.com) – The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is funding a study that seeks to discover a link between drinking and having sex among homosexuals in Argentina.

The study will send researchers to six bars in Buenos Aires to interview both patrons and proprietors in an effort to discover what it is about those bars that may encourage the risky behavior.

The study’s primary focus is to determine the relationship among drinking, bars frequented by homosexuals, and risky sexual behavior to see if certain bars in Argentina might be good targets for HIV-prevention campaigns.

“Targeting public venues in Buenos Aires where men meet, alcohol is consumed, and sexual behavior occurs, the goal of this two-year exploratory study is to understand the various factors that contribute to the creation of a high-risk sexual space,” the study’s abstract explains.

While the study is being conducted in Argentina, it is being funded with U.S. tax dollars. The grant recipients--who could not be reached for comment -- say in the abstract that information gathered in the bars in Argentina might help inform similar efforts in America.

The study is among a number funded by the NIAAA to examine the relationship between drinking and the spread of HIV, including a study of tourism, prostitution, and HIV in the Dominican Republic and another study examining drinking and HIV among prostitutes in China.

If the "information gathered in the bars in Argentina might help inform similar efforts in America," then why not conduct the study in America?

Do we really need to spend over $400,000 in American tax dollars to tell us what Americans already know... that drinking contributes to poor judgement and can lead to risky sex? !

Do we really need another study to tell us what we already know... that risky sex can lead to sexually transmitted diseases... just one of which is HIV and AIDS? !

It's a well known fact that the more money a person, organization, or the government is given, the more waste and abuse will occur, and nowhere is that more true than with the government.

As anyone who has ever worked for the government knows, this is exactly what happens when the government is allowed to take your tax dollars and "redistribute" them to others whom the government determines is more deserving of your hard earned tax dollars that you!

It's time for another TEA party, but most of all it's time to kick the wasteful and out-of-control politicians and bureaucrats out of Washington!

In speaking to reporters Wednesday, Holder also said it is possible the United States could cooperate with a foreign court's investigation of Bush administration officials.

Holder spoke before the announcement that a Spanish magistrate had opened an investigation of Bush officials on harsh interrogation methods. Holder didn't rule out cooperating in such a probe.

"Obviously, we would look at any request that would come from a court in any country and see how and whether we should comply with it," Holder said.

"This is an administration that is determined to conduct itself by the rule of law and to the extent that we receive lawful requests from an appropriately created court, we would obviously respond to it," he said.

Spanish magistrate Baltasar Garzon has launched an inquisition into America's treatment of terrorist detainees. Now Attorney General Eric Holder says the Obama administration may choose to cooperate with such kangaroo investigations.

If the Attorney General of the United States once accepts the absurdity that a Spanish court and Spanish judge, Baltasar Garzón, sitting in Spain and operating under Spanish law, actually have jurisdiction over American officials making official policy decisions inside the United States about how American military and intelligence agents can interrogate detainees at an American Marine Corps base inside Cuba... then how can Holder later limit such jurisdiction to "evidentiary requests?"

If we ever once accept that a European court -- and not even a recognized "international" one! -- has jurisdiction over actions committed by American officials ... then we have crossed a line from which we can never retreat: The United States will cease to be a sovereign power.

Sometimes you get the feeling that's what some Democrats want.

If Spain, the U.N., or any other nation wants to try our government officials for protecting America and our citizens, then they should send their military to arrest and drag them to the inquisitions...

Obama: Let the Mexican flu pour in to the U.S.!

Many people have said long before now that we should close the border with Mexico to halt the flow of new Mexican flu cases coming into the United States -- while we battle to control and stop the cases that are already here.

When asked about closing the border to reduce the number of cases coming into the United States, Obama said that "would be akin to closing the barn door after the horses are out, because we already have cases here in the United States."

No, Obama! That would be more like closing the flood gates to stop more water from pouring in and flooding our homes and cities.

We aren't worried about the horses escaping the barn, we are worried about stopping the flow of new flu cases crossing our borders while we try to contain, treat, and reduce or stop the spread of new cases to more American citizens and our schools!

Schools and public events in Mexico have already been closed to reduce the spread of the flu. ABC news reported that the Mexican government has now taken even more drastic action, ordering all nonessential businesses to close.

Schools across America are already shutting down to reduce and minimize contact with those who have the flu, in an effort to contain and eventually stop the spread of this killer flu to even more Americans.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon, who has been criticized for his low profile during the crisis, addressed the nation Wednesday night and told Mexicans to stay home. "There is no safer place to protect yourself against catching swine flu than in your house," he said.

If you're trying to protect the lives of your family by avoiding contact with those who have the flu, would you then open the door of your home and welcome inside those already infected with the virus to increase the chances one of them could infect you and your family? No!

No responsible and sane person would do that!

So why does Obama want to keep the doors open to our home -- the Untied States -- and allow more infected people to spread the disease while our doctors, hospitals, and medical facilities we are working to treat, contain, and stop the spread of this deadly flu virus?

Speaking out of both sides of his mouth, Obama also said: "Our public health officials have recommended that schools with confirmed or suspected cases of this flu strongly consider temporarily closing."

Vice-President Biden is telling Americans to avoid contact with those who might be carrying the disease; although, it is true that Biden is older and more experienced than Obama!

Which is it Obama? Close our schools to reduce the spread of the virus, or keep the flood gates open and allow more infected cases to pour across our borders? ! ! !

Perhaps Obama is right -- this time. Perhaps Obama has waited too long, and it's now too late to reduce the spread of the Mexican flu to more Americans by closing our borders. The Obama administration should have taken that and other more aggressive actions sooner -- before the flu had spread.

Rather than out playing golf, Obama should have been more personally involved and proactive in managing this crisis during its earlier stages!

We all know, talk is cheap, and... Obama is certainly a good talker!

On Thursday, Darrell Scott, the father of Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton, Colorado, was invited to address the House Judiciary Committee's subcommittee. What he said to our national leaders during this special session of Congress was painfully truthful.

They were not prepared for what he was to say, nor was it received well. It needs to be heard by every parent, every teacher, every politician, every sociologist, every psychologist, and every so-called expert! These courageous words spoken by Darrell Scott are powerful, penetrating, and deeply personal. There is no doubt that God sent this man as a voice crying in the wilderness.

The following is a portion of the transcript:

"Since the dawn of creation there has been both good & evil in the hearts of men and women.. We all contain the seeds of kindness or the seeds of violence. The death of my wonderful daughter, Rachel Joy Scott, and the deaths of that heroic teacher, and the other eleven children who died must not be in vain. Their blood cries out for answers.

"The first recorded act of violence was when Cain slew his brother Abel out in the field. The villain was not the club he used.. Neither was it the NCA, the National Club Association. The true killer was Cain, and the reason for the murder could only be found in Cain's heart.

"In the days that followed the Columbine tragedy, I was amazed at how quickly fingers began to be pointed at groups such as the NRA. I am not a member of the NRA. I am not a hunter. What do you do if you're Obama and an "inconvenient" flu outbreak draws attention from yourself and threatens to disrupt your own celebration and media spectacular being staged to pat yourself on the back for having "saved the world" during your first 100 days in office?

Why, you turn the suffering, death, fear, and misery of others into yet another "opportunity" to proclaim to the world how great YOU are!

The Washington Post notes: "...Obama's efforts to control the message around his 100th day in office is 'complicated' by the swine flu."

White House Cheat Sheet: Swine Flu Snafu?

"With less than 24 hours before President Obama celebrates his 100th day in office, the wall-to-wall coverage of the swine flu threatens to swamp efforts out of the White House to frame the president's accomplishments."

While the White House has argued for much of the last several weeks that they pay little attention to phony measuring sticks like the 100 days -- White House senior adviser David Axelrod famously referred to Wednesday as a "Hallmark holiday" -- there is clear evidence that the administration is seeking to capitalize on the attention being paid to the day by the media.

Obama is scheduled to attend a town hall meeting in St. Louis, Mo. (a critical swing state in 2008 and likely again in 2012) Wednesday morning and then jet back to Washington that evening for the third prime-time press conference of his presidency.

All of that activity is aimed at one thing: ensuring that the White House's preferred message on what the first 100 days means is the one that most Americans consume on Wednesday.

Capitalize on the fear, misery, suffering, and death of others...

The White House said that both Wednesday's town hall meeting and the prime-time press conference are still on but, of course, that plan could change depending on the severity of the swine flu and the public's reaction to it.

...not to say that the swine flu has destroyed what would have been a banner week for the Obama administration. In every crisis there is opportunity -- to paraphrase White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel -- and that is of course true with the swine flu.

"I don't think it hurts at all," said Democratic consultant Phil Singer of the swine flu. "Instead of being a retrospective on the last 100 days, the President can use the milestone to demonstrate his leadership skills in real time."

Never let it be said that Obama -- The Great Manipulator -- and his Left-Wing staff aren't experts at manipulating the news to fuel their Liberal agenda and feed Obama's Narcissistic personality and needs!

The "blame America first" crowd and those who are anti-American love what Obama is turning our country into. Obama is ripping apart the very foundations our country was created upon.

The question was recently posed to me on whether or not I consider Obama a "traitor." In the sense that he has made our enemies - like al-Queda - openly aware of the U.S. Military interrogation techniques, as well as given them information on supposed withdrawal dates from Iraq, and seems intent on punishing many who were doing their jobs to protect our country, one really has to wonder. Obama's actions do look like they are aiding the enemy. ...[or] Is he just an incompetent liberal, striving to achieve the ultimate liberal goal of re-inventing America to be little more than the same as other countries? Does he actually think that is a good thing? Knocking us off our pedestal as a world power, because the left doesn't see that as somehow being a desirable position? ...

In all of Obama's speeches, does he ever talk about what a great country America is? Does he ever speak with pride about all of America's accomplishments ... It would serve Barack Obama well to remember all the good of America, rather than to continue to point out the bad. By focusing on the perceived ills, Obama seems to be legitimizing his attempts to tear down our country to rebuild it as the next France. Why? Why do we want to morph into another country? What is wrong with America?

Please, President Obama, tell us what you like about our country, other than the fact you got elected. As for being a traitor or just an incompetent leader, the jury is still out. Either way, as I've stated before, 2012 cannot get here fast enough.

Never in our nation's history has America had such an anti-American president as Obama -- bowing down to kings, apologizing and "sucking up" to our enemies and those who wish to see America harmed and defeated, bankrupting our nation with his out-of-control spending, cutting and undermining our defense, and freely giving away highly classified and secret information which will aid our enemies while demeaning and tarnishing America's image throughout the world!

All patriotic Americans should be working hard to vote Obama, his Liberal Democrats, and his Socialist-Communist agenda out of office -- the sooner the better!

Deadly New Flu Outbreak

Reuters is reporting the outbreak of a new strain of "swine" flu described as a "never-before-seen mixture of viruses typical among pigs, birds and humans."

April 24, 2009:

GENEVA (Reuters) – The World Health Organization (WHO) voiced concern on Friday at a confirmed outbreak of swine flu in the United States and what it called more than 800 human "influenza-like" cases in Mexico, including about 60 deaths.

The United Nations agency said it had activated its Strategic Health Operations Center (SHOC) -- its command and control center for acute public health events -- but could not say whether it was considering issuing a travel advisory.

Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordoba said that it was cancelling classes for millions of children in the heart of the country on Friday after influenza killed around 20 people in recent weeks. Mexico's flu season had extended for longer this year.

April 24, 2009:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Seven people have been diagnosed with a new kind of swine flu in California and Texas, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Thursday.

"Symptoms from those seriously ill in Mexico include high fever, headache, eye pain, shortness of breath and extreme fatigue with rapid progression of symptoms to severe respiratory distress in about five days," the British Columbia Center for Disease Control said in a statement.

In the United States, the CDC reported the new strain of swine flu on Tuesday in a boy and a girl from California's two southernmost counties.

Now, five more cases have been found via normal surveillance for seasonal influenza. None of the patients, whose symptoms closely resembled seasonal flu, had any direct contact with pigs.

Canadian officials have asked doctors to keep an eye out for cases of respiratory illness among travelers from Mexico.

What happens if this flu spreads to millions of people around the world? If the death rate in Mexico is any indication, a death rate of 60 people among the 800 cases would equate to 75,000 deaths for each one million people affected.

Consider the fact that millions of people in the U.S. and many hundreds of millions around the world get the flu each year!

And where could a "never-before-seen mixture of viruses typical among pigs, birds and humans" come from?

World news sources are reporting North Korea is now a nuclear power!

The world’s intelligence agencies and defense experts are quietly acknowledging that North Korea has become a fully fledged nuclear power with the capacity to wipe out entire cities in Japan and South Korea, the Times of London reported.

The new reality has emerged in off-hand remarks and in single sentences buried in lengthy reports. Increasing numbers of authoritative experts — from the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the U.S. Defense Secretary — are admitting that North Korea has miniaturized nuclear warheads to the extent that they can be launched on medium-range missiles, according to intelligence briefings.

This puts it ahead of Iran in the race for nuclear attack capability and seriously alters the balance of power between North Korea’s large but poorly equipped military and the South Korean and U.S. forces ranged against it. “North Korea has nuclear weapons, which is a matter of fact,” the head of the IAEA, Mohamed ElBaradei, said this week. “I don’t like to accept any country as a nuclear weapon state we have to face reality.”

North Korea with nuclear missiles that can wipe out South Korean and Japanese cities killing tens of millions of people. Iran likely will have nuclear weapons and missiles very soon -- perhaps even supplied by North Korea -- with the desire and ability to strike Israel and Europe's major cities. Pakistan is moving even closer toward control by the Taliban, giving them, Osama bin Laden, and his supporters access to numerous nuclear missiles capable of destroying who knows what.

Obama says it will be years before any of those countries can strike the U.S., but he forgets and ignores what a few nuclear bombs dropped on Tokyo, Seoul, Israel, Europe, and India (who will retaliate against Pakistan) will do to the U.S. and world economies -- except that this time there will be no bailout or economic stimulus because Obama has blown all of America's reserves and credit on his liberal agenda and socialism -- which most Americans are too blinded to see or understand.

Obama forgets, however, that a nuclear missile or missiles can be launched from ships or barges located in international waters far off America's coast, with the possibility of wiping out cities like New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, Boston, and many others!

President Bush wanted to do take aggressive action to stop North Korea and Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons and the missile to deliver them, but the Liberal Democrats blocked those efforts. Now, the world is faced with the reality of one more rogue state with nuclear weapons and the ability to blackmail nations, annihilate cities, and kill tens of millions!

And what is Obama's answer? Talk, apologize, and blame America, while cutting America's defenses... including the very missile defense system that might well save U.S. cities and those of our allies from destruction and annihilation!

Maybe Obama can make a personal trip to North Korea, give Kim Jong Il a great big hug, and apologize for America's past actions and hard feelings toward North Korea and Kim.

Have no fear, Obama is here, with a big grin, sugary words, and snake oil to save the day -- NOT!

...until now, the U.S. political system has avoided the spectacle of a new Administration prosecuting its predecessor for policy disagreements. This is what happens in Argentina, Malaysia or Peru, countries where the law is treated merely as an extension of political power.

[Obama] absolved CIA operatives of any legal jeopardy ... But he has pointedly invited investigations against Republican legal advisers who offered their best advice at the request of CIA officials.

...Obama says only the legal advisers who are no longer in government should be investigated. The political convenience of this distinction for Mr. Obama betrays its basic injustice. ...

Obama's decision last week to release the interrogation memos unleashed a revenge lust on the political left that he refuses to resist.

[Obama] is trying to co-opt his left-wing base by playing to it -- only to encourage it more. ...Obama may think he can soar above all of this, but he'll soon learn otherwise. ...political energy will focus more on the spectacle of revenge, and less on his agenda.

[T] he exercise will only embitter Republicans, including the moderates and national-security hawks ... partisan anger and backlash will grow. ...By indulging his party's desire to criminalize policy advice, he has unleashed furies that will haunt his Presidency.

You've been saying for some time now that we need a Conservative Party (and maybe "Party" is not the right term, although it is your term) that's not tied to the GOP, but that can do the heavy lifting on the more conservative issues, much like MoveOn has done for the Dems.

I don't totally disagree with that, but I'm having trouble envisioning how that would work on the Right. While MoveOn doesn't represent the ideology of the majority of Democrats, it does represent the ideology of the Dem leadership. And the Dems who don't agree with MoveOn, to a large extent, care more about winning than they do about defending their principles. It's just a completely different mindset than Conservatives.

Who exactly do you envision making up this "bad cop" wing of Conservatism, and what roll do they play at election time? Do they do all the heavy lifting, not run any candidates of their own and then stay home when the GOP leadership fails to agree with them on a singular issue? Who do you visualize leading them? And, more importantly, who funds them?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but talking to people at the Tea Party really got me to thinking about strategy in some new ways. You know the old saying, "politics makes strange bedfellows"? Well, that was never more obvious than at the Tea Party Saturday. I'm thinking, if the movement has legs, it could go a long way toward softening the stance of lots of one-issue voters.

The Washington Times is reporting the Obama administration denied military requests to use our most powerful sea-based radar to monitor North Korea's recent missile launch, thereby, blocking the opportunity to gain valuable data to refine America's missile defense system -- before it's needed during an actual attack on a major U.S. city.

U.S. failed to use best radar for N. Korea missile

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates denied permission for the U.S. Northern Command to use the Pentagon's most powerful sea-based radar to monitor North Korea's recent missile launch, precluding officials from collecting finely detailed launch data or testing the radar in a real-time crisis, current and former defense officials said.

SBX, deployed in 2005, can track and identify warheads, decoys and debris in space with very high precision. Officials said the radar is so powerful it could detect a baseball hit out of a ballpark from more than 3,000 miles away, and that other radars used by the U.S. would not be able to provide the same level of detail about North Korea's missile capabilities.

Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Henry Obering, who until recently headed the Missile Defense Agency, said the SBX would have gathered data other U.S. systems could not.

Former defense officials said the failure to use the SBX precluded the U.S. from gathering finely detailed intelligence and electronic signatures on the North Korean missile - information that could be useful in guarding against a future rocket launch aimed at the United States or one its allies.

Regardless of whether it was a missile or space launcher, "the technologies that overlap between a ballistic missile and a space launcher are incredible; everything you need for a ballistic missile can be tested out with a space launcher," one of the former defense officials said, speaking only on the condition of anonymity because the information he possesses about the SBX's capabilities is not public.

Obama administration officials offered various "reasons" for denying the military's request to use the $900 million SBX radar, ranging from other radars and sensors could support the operational requirements, to it would have caused a temporary delay in maintenance, to concerns about "provoking" the North Korea. The most likely reason for denying the military's request to test this critical radar was Obama's misguided concerns about not "provoking" North Korea.

One current and two former specialists in strategic defenses said the administration rejected the request because it feared that moving the huge floating radar system would be viewed by North Korea as provocative and upset diplomatic efforts aimed at restarting six-nation nuclear talks.

A week or two delay in maintenance would be a small, logical, and reasonable price to pay for the valuable information we would have gained from using the radar to monitor Korea's live missile launch. As for "provoking" the North Koreans, how is monitoring the launch of the missile test they already had planned and announced going to "provoke" them; although, I'm sure Obama's information spinners and "media managers" will have a "plausible" answer for those willing to fall for their propaganda?

And what did the naive Obama administration get for not "provoking" North Korea, while giving up a unique opportunity to gather data and information that could prove critical in refining our missile defense system? They got more "talk" and resolutions from the U.N. -- most of whose members couldn't care less if America were struck with a nuclear missile! And to make it even worse, the Obama administration managed to get the North Koreans to restart their nuclear program and have the U.N. inspectors and monitors kicked out of the country besides!

Reacting to U.N. condemnation of the April 4 launch, North Korea said Tuesday that it would "never participate in the [nuclear] talks" and would restart its plutonium-yielding nuclear reactor. The U.N. nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said North Korea had ordered U.N. inspectors to leave the reclusive communist country.

Not only did the Obama administration refuse requests to further test our nation's missile defense system, but they've begun cutting funding for the very system that could protect America's cities from a rogue or limited nuclear missile attack, the death toll and results of which would make 9/11 seem insignificant by comparison.

The administration's restrictions on missile defenses were disclosed as Mr. Gates announced last week that he is planning a $1.4 billion cut in missile defense funding.

Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Republican, and Sen. Joe Lieberman, Connecticut independent, wrote to Mr. Obama on April 6, urging him to reject the missile defense cuts.

The senators warned that the planned missile defense funding cut would undermine international cooperation with Japan, Israel and other states at a time when missile threats are growing.

One has to wonder what Gates gave up, and what promises and concessions he made in order to keep his job as Secretary of Defense under Obama's "weak on defense" administration.

Will it be Secretary Gates's job to oversee and manage the weakening and dismantling of the U.S. military and the defenses of the world's last remaining superpower -- a goal many of Obama's Liberal supporters clearly want to see happen!

Here's an example of CNN's [NON] objective news coverage, attacking, demeaning, and insulting those with whom she disagrees rather than reporting news.

The title of the video is misleading. It was not the "reporter" who was harassed, but rather it was she who "harrassed" the person she was "interviewing"!

This is but one example of the liberal media's anti-Conservative, anti-Fox News, and anti-American coverage.

When anti-war, anti-Bush, and anti-American protesters demonstrated -- burning our flag and calling President Bush, our troops, and America every obscene and hateful name and insult possible -- the liberal media had a love-fest and couldn't get enough of them.

When real Americans show their dislike for Obama's Socialism and out-of-control spending, the media starts attacking the protesters.

Apparently the CNN reporter doesn't even understand that the $50 billion example she cited is exactly the type of Obama's spending the people are protesting. Where does that "smart" CNN reporter think all that "free" money is coming from which she thinks is so great? It's coming from those trillions and trillions of dollars in deficit spending Obama and the Democrats are running up for us, our children, our grandchildren, and their children to "try" and pay back!

As a candidate, Obama opposed the deficit and said he would "change" the government spending excesses.

Well, Obama kept his word. Obama and the Democrats' deficit spending and planned budget deficits already exceeds that of ALL presidents before him -- from George Washington through George Bush.

Is this the "change" Americans "hoped" for? NO ! ! !

Gov. Perry: Fed up Texans might soon want to secede

Texans are fed up with federal tax policies, and might get so fed up that they decide they want to secede from the union, Gov. Rick Perry told reporters today after he attended an anti-tax tea party rally in Austin. He said the federal government has gone somewhat astray from what our founders wanted and he believes the federal government is choking Americans with excessive spending and taxation.

And although Perry made it clear he doesn't see the need to secede and isn't advocating for that, he said there's no question that's on the mind of some Texans. That was obvious at tea parties around the state, where "Secede" was a popular slogan on signs.

"Texas is a unique place," he said. "When we came into the union in 1845, one of the issues was that we would be able to leave if we decided to do that.

"My hope is that America and Washington in particular pays attention," he said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot.”

At a tea party rally in Austin City Hall, chants of "Secede" could be heard during speeches.

According to the press release posted on Governor Perry's website:

I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

A number of recent federal proposals are not within the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally designated powers and impede the states’ right to govern themselves. HCR 50 affirms that Texas claims sovereignty under the 10th Amendment over all powers not otherwise granted to the federal government.

It also designates that all compulsory federal legislation that requires states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties, or that requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding, be prohibited or repealed.

How many other Americans are getting fed up with Liberals working to destroy everything that made America a great nation?

While Obama talks... Somali pirates (terrorists) have taken ~~three~~ four more ships and 60 hostages -- just today!

The U.S. Navy takes real action and frees Captain Phillips from the Somali pirates (terrorists), but from the White House spin and the liberal media coverage, one would think it was Obama himself who freed the captain.

Many questions remain to be answered about what action Obama may or may not have authorized. We will probably never get the real truth from the Obama administration or those military officials who value their jobs.

Pirate Smackdown, will we get the actual chain of events, or spin?

BHO actually didn't give his permission to open fire. The On Scene Commander (OSC - Bainbridge) asked at least twice for permission to do a take down and the BHO crowd "delayed." The first time permission was asked it was flatly denied because they (the White House) wanted a diplomatic solution (read talk them to death). Finally permission was given to "use appropriate force" if the Captain's life was in immediate danger.

Personally I believe BO found himself in the position of having to make a decision. One he would have preferred to delay as long as possible. I also believe one of the reasons he waited was he/his staff (?) were trying to find a solution that would absolve the President if it went badly.

The OSC reached a point were he could not continue to wait - he was losing his "window of opportunity." He had "semi approval" and the timing was right. "Appropriate force" was applied. It was the OSC that made the decision. Think about the pressure on this guy. If he ordered the snipers to shoot and it went badly he would have been toast. The snipers could have hit the Captain, or missed the terrorists and the terrorists killed the Captain. ...but the OSC gets paid to make tough decisions and and the op went just like it was suppose to. In the end it was the Captain that gave the snipers the opportunity by once again jumping in the water IOT attempt escape.

Having been in the middle of military (Navy) decision making by higher ups (not necessarily this unique situation), I've got a pretty good hunch about how this went. The bad guys had at least one AK-47 and the Captain was more than likely guarded "loosely." Whether or not the Captain's life was in immediate danger is unknown, but any and all reports will indicate he faced an immediate threat. Not saying he wasn't in danger, but the terrorists wanted money and if the Captain was killed they would have lost their leverage. It was in their best interest to keep him alive. Remember too, he could not have jumped over the side if a gun was pointed directly at him by an alert and focused terrorist. If that was the case the Captain would have been shot before he got in the water or shortly after. So I'm thinking a more realistic picture was that he was in the boat and the terrorists in the boat with him possessed gun(s) and those guns were not always "in his face."

Now, since the mission was successful BHO has certainly jumped on the spin wagon and is taking all the credit he can. The media is also on board about BO's decisive action during his first test, etc. If you look closely at his remarks prior to the take down, he left himself an out so he could blame the military had it gone badly. You can bet your bottom dollar BO would have distanced himself had the hostage been killed.

There was one report stating the terrorists were taken down by 50 cal sniper weapons. I've fired Expert with the 50 cal and have fired thousands of rounds with it (the machine gun version, not the sniper version). That weapon will bring serious pee on who ever it hits. If the shots were head shots, their heads would have pretty much exploded. There was also a report the shots were not long distance, but were in the vicinity of 30 or so yards off the Bainbridge's fantail. Not an easy shot to be sure, but not as difficult as a longer shot.

Something to consider as you view the news about this incident.

Republican National Chairman Michael S. Steele has launched a direct attack on President Obama in a new mass mailing, accusing the president of being part of the "blame America first" crowd ... Mr. Steele took the gloves off in a fund-raising letter sent out Monday to 12 million party supporters.

[Obama's] criticizing the United States on his recent European tour showed "an absence of wisdom."

[Obama] said the United States has displayed "arrogance" at times in its foreign policy. But Mr. Steele said it was the former senator from Illinois who was "arrogant" when he "boasted his election would be remember as the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal."

[Obama] showed similar arrogance earlier when he "indicated disdain for small town and working Americans who 'cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them.'"

Obama with his continuing anti-American rhetoric is the arrogant one, not the United States.

A new Rasmussen poll finds that the vast majority of Americans believe Jesus lived, that he rose from the dead, and that he was the son of God!

[T]he latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 88% of adults nationwide think the person known to history as Jesus Christ actually walked the earth 2,000 years ago. That’s up five points from a year ago.
Eighty-two percent (82%) also believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God who came to Earth and died for our sins.
Nearly as many, 79% believe the central claim of the Christian faith--that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
Among those who rarely or never attend church, 50% believe Jesus rose from the dead, 58% think he was the son of God and 72% say he walked the Earth.
A separate Rasmussen Reports survey found that 53% consider Easter to be one of the nation’s most important holidays.

If these results are even remotely close to the truth, it makes one wonder why Christians would ever vote for Liberals (mostly Democrats) whose very agenda and efforts are aimed at undermining and destroying religion in America -- especially Christianity -- along with its values, morals, traditions, and beliefs.

It also shows the basic foundation still exists upon which Conservatives can rebuild and restore America... if they will make the effort and do so!

Obama bows, the White House lies!

As we've seen many times, Obama has trouble showing respect for America, one example of which is shown in this well known Time photograph. While others are showing proper respect as our National Anthem is being played -- with their hand placed over their heart -- Obama casually stares off into the distance!

On the other hand, Obama has no problem touring Europe, apologizing for what "he" believes to be America's faults -- even bowing down to the king of Saudi Arabia!

The Washington Times noted: “Such an act is a traditional obeisance befitting a king's subjects, not his peer. There is no precedent for U.S. presidents bowing to Saudi or any other royals.” Clearly Obama is ignorant of this fact.

In their efforts to "make this issue go away", the White House is trying to rewrite history, apparently convinced Americans will believe any lie they are fed by Obama's "media managers." To this end, an Obama aide denied that the president was bowing. “It wasn’t a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he’s taller than King Abdullah,” the aide was quoted as saying by Politco.com Wednesday.

While the White House tries to convince the American people of their "new and improved" version of history, the facts show otherwise. As you watch the video, note the area highlighted by the circle in the image below. Obama's left hand in the center of the circle near his knees.

Contrary to the White House, the YouTube video clearly shows that Obama does in fact bow down to the Saudi king. You will see the king reach out with his right hand and grasp Obama's right hand, at which point Obama continues to lean forward as he bows to the king, ending with the king (and the world!) looking down on him. The details can be seen better in the full screen version of the video.

It is not until after Obama straightens up from his bow, still holding the king's right hand, that you will see him raise his left hand and apparently grasp the king's hand in that "double handed grasp" which the White House wants you to believe "caused" him to bend over in the first place.

The White House wants you to ignore what your eyes tell you and believe instead that Obama had to bend down from his lofty height to grasp the king's hand! Anyone who buys the White House version is a true, loyal, and blinded Obama supporter -- lying to themselves!

But the real issue is not the lies. The real issue is that America does not bow down or surrender to kings and queens... to other countries ... or to terrorists! America stopped bowing to others when we won our independence and became a sovereign nation!

If Obama took the time to read some real American history -- not the Liberal revisionist version -- he might understand that!

Socialism 101

This following story is making the rounds on the Internet and the e-mail circuit. Whether an actual event or not, it pretty much describes socialism!

An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student, but had once failed an entire class.

The class (students) insisted that socialism worked since no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer. The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism."

"All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A."

After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who had studied hard were upset while the students who had studied very little were happy.

But, as the second test rolled around, the students who had studied little studied even less and the ones who had studied hard decided that since they couldn't make an A, they also studied less. The second Test average was a D.

No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around the average grade was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling, all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great as is the case with capitalism; but when government takes all the reward away; no one will try or want to succeed as is the case with socialism.

Could not be any simpler than that...

Even a "smart" college kid should be able to understand this!

At least 10 states are considering some kind of major increase in sales or income taxes: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin. California and New York lawmakers already have agreed on multibillion-dollar tax increases that went into effect earlier this year.

Fiscal experts say more states are likely to try to raise tax revenue in coming months, especially once they tally the latest shortfalls from April 15 income-tax filings, often the biggest single source of funds for the 43 states that levy them.

"Income taxes and sales taxes are the go-to taxes when you really need to raise a lot of money," said Donald J. Boyd, who monitors states' fiscal health for the Rockefeller Institute of Government in Albany, N.Y.

Legislators know the increases will be unpopular with residents. "There will be blame, we accept that," Sen. Eileen M. Daily of Connecticut said earlier this month when she and fellow Democrats announced a budget that raises income-tax rates and expands the sales tax to raise more than $3 billion over the next two years. Connecticut Gov. Jodi Rell, a Republican, has said she would veto the plan.

Many states remain determined to balance their budgets by relying solely on spending cuts. That is the case in Indiana, where raising revenue "is really not on the table," said Pat Bauer, the speaker of the state House.

Not only have Liberals spent our future, they are spending our reserves to deal with future problems.

If not stopped, the ultimate conclusion will be bankruptcy... for the states... and for our nation!

Israel knows it must take out the nuclear weapons capability of Iran. And yet, Israel will not be able to do it. ...because Barack Obama will order the United States Air Force to stand in its way if it tries. ...With our bases in Iraq and those floating in the Persian Gulf, the United States separates Israel and Iran. Obama would have to give his okay for Israel to pass. Obama will not.

...Obama has surrounded himself with friends and foreign policy advisors who believe the world will be a better place once that sore called Israel is gone. These are not secret haters of Israel but open and proud haters of Israel. Obama surrounds himself with these people. ...

Israel was our old friend. Yesterday's friend. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ... is our new friend. ...Obama has made our choice for us. ...in the open and clearly enough even for the willfully blind -- that is, American Jews -- to see.

We have a rock star president who for the first time in American history fired the President of a private corporation, General Motors, then immediately flew to Europe with an entourage of 500 courtiers and a worshipful media, bowed waist-deep to the King of Saudi Arabia, and proceeded to accuse his own country of arrogance.

Does anybody else think this guy is shockingly ignorant? I wonder if he has every really talked to a concentration camp survivor, or a Cuban refugee, or a boat person from Vietnam? Or a Soviet dissident. Or a survivor or Mao's purges.

Not to mention families with fallen American soldiers in the graveyards. Yes, he's going to Normandie, but will he apologize for our arrogance there, too? Does he really understand anything beyond the PC history of the world? Or will he just lie in his photo op at the American Cemetery at Normandy? ...

Why doesn't Obama just resign as America's president and run for World Emperor!

On Mar. 24, the Supreme Court heard arguments in Citizens United v. FEC, the latest installment in an ongoing series of challenges to the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), better known as McCain-Feingold. This case has far-reaching implications for the future of campaign activities, and draws an important line between the right of citizens to speak out and the power of government to imprison them if they do.

Far more important than the specific facts in this case was the enormous scope of power that the Obama Administration was claiming under BCRA, an array so broad that the justices balked at the government's answers to their questions. The Obama Administration claimed that BCRA allows the federal government to ban a 600-page book if it mentions a candidate's name only once, a 90-minute movie if it mentions a candidate's name once, or even a toy action figure of a candidate. The key justices in this case seemed astonished at the broad powers the Obama Administration was claiming under BCRA ... Health and Human Services nominee Kathleen Sebelius recently corrected three years of tax returns and paid more than $7,000 in back taxes after finding "unintentional errors" -- the latest tax troubles for an Obama administration nominee.

The Kansas governor explained the changes to senators in a letter dated Tuesday that the administration released. She said they involved charitable contributions, the sale of a home and business expenses.

Sebelius said she filed the amended returns as soon as the errors were discovered by an accountant she hired to scrub her taxes in preparation for her confirmation hearings. She and her husband, Gary, a federal magistrate judge in Kansas, paid a total of $7,040 in back taxes and $878 in interest to amend returns from 2005-2007.

Considering the money the IRS is recovering from Obama's nominees -- who were vetted and "cleared" of tax problems -- let's have the IRS audit every Democrat politician and collect the back taxes from all the other deadbeat taxpayers. That should help reduce the deficit.

Robert Reich, professor of public policy at the University of California, Berkeley and the former Clinton Administration Secretary of Labor thinks we are all idiots. In an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal entitled "Obamanomics Isn't About Big Government," Mr. Reich tells us that catastrophic government spending, un-constitutional legislation, uncontrolled earmarks, corruption, cronyism-bloated bureaucracies, class warfare, and social engineering are "trickle-up economics." ...

Robert Reich is a radical fellow traveler, whom we foolishly let teach our children as he helps Obama steal their future. His ideology makes him a popular guy around campus and in the fever swamps of the far left, but as the Obama-effect wears off, as it increasingly will, he will need the solace of those quiet halls.

When the full realization of what Obama and his minions are doing to the country hits the average citizen, there will be anger and outrage and revolt. It is already growing. It is hard to believe that we are just a few months into this administration. What will it look like in 2010 for the mid-term elections? Topolanek's comments are the strongest criticism so far from a European leader as the 27-nation bloc bristles from recent U.S. criticism that it is not spending enough to stimulate demand.

The United States plans to spend heavily to try and lift its economy out of recession with a $787 billion economic stimulus plan of tax rebates, health and welfare benefits, as well as extra energy and infrastructure spending.

To encourage banks to lend again, the government will also pump $1 trillion into the financial system by buying up treasury bonds and mortgage securities in an effort to clear some of the "toxic assets" — devalued and untradeable assets — from banks' balance sheets.

Topolanek bluntly said that "the United States did not take the right path."

He slammed the U.S.' widening budget deficit and protectionist trade measures ... and said that "all of these steps, these combinations and permanency is the way to hell."

"We need to read the history books and the lessons of history and the biggest success of the (EU) is the refusal to go this way," he said.

"Americans will need liquidity to finance all their measures and they will balance this with the sale of their bonds but this will undermine the stability of the global financial market," said Topolanek.

(AP) -- Police in Michigan say a 15-year-old boy has died after being Tasered by officers who were trying to break up a fight.

A Bay City police news release says officers answered a report of an early morning fight on Sunday. The statement says two males were arguing in an apartment, and one of them "attempted to fight the officers."

Police say officers Tasered him, and his reaction led them to immediately call for emergency medical help. He was pronounced dead at Bay Regional Medical Center.

This would not be happening if these were terrorists being Tasered instead of American citizens.

Liberals are outraged and up-in-arms at the thought of using even loud music or uncomfortable surroundings on terrorists to save American lives, but it's quite okay to routinely zap American citizens with 50,000 volts of electricity from a Taser gun.

Tasers are acceptable and used throughout the U.S. every day on American citizens, even kids. Tasers are obviously not instruments of torture.

With this sort of insanity making news on an almost daily basis, reasonable leaders of the Democrat party, if there are any, need to visit the Oval Office and remind Obama that disabled veterans are American heroes, and the very essence of patriotism and sacrifice.

Without contributions made by war veterans, America’s freedom and liberty would be very much in doubt.

President Obama ... would pile additional burden on the backs of the men and women whom have served in harm’s way to defend our great nation.

...why in the hell would the president go after the most noble and worthy citizens in our midst?

Rather than punishing [America's veterans] ... Obama should “go after” the hundreds of billions of taxpayers dollars that are wasted on providing public services to invading illegal aliens who have no business even being in America.

Still we aren't seeing any real directed, managed, and coordinated effort by Republicans or Conservatives to highlight and use these and other negative issues and views to erode Obama's popularity and create a negative (or at least a less positive) opinion of his motives and actions, and of him personally. Negative "attacks" work!

Don't think of ads only in the traditional sense. Think of it more as a "campaign" including increased emails, blogging, letters to editors, calls to talk shows, talk shows themselves, off-hand remarks at local stores and restaurants, comments to friends, etc.

Republicans must be more particular, careful, and "civil" in their anti-Obama campaign, but those Conservative individuals and groups not associated with the GOP can and must open up and let 'em have it!

Until people begin to see Obama for the slick talking socialist he really is, his image begins to tarnish, and he is knocked off his pedestal, we can't stop his agenda.

It's up to Conservatives to unite and make that happen!

Democrats Started The Economic Crisis...

Three to four million families are now facing foreclosure, and Cuomo is one of the reasons why."
Republicans tried to stop this... New York Times word if you prefer.

"The Bush administration is rightly pushing for the Treasury Department to regulate the two giants, along with the network of federal home loan banks. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae provide financing to lenders by creating a secondary market for mortgages... Their current regulator is ill equipped to keep tabs on Freddie's and Fannie's sophisticated hedging strategies and the other financial moves they use to manage their huge investments."

But Democrats manned and womanned the barricades and stopped such regulation attempts. Here was Barney Frank in 2003:

"These two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis. The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

We've been spending about a trillion dollars a month since this started happening. What do we have for it? Lehman Brothers is still broke. AIG, who received over $150B from the government already, is also broke. Everybody and everything is broke. Nothing is fixed. And no one seems to be fixing anything.

Since Obama was elected president, the markets have tanked another 30% or so, much of which is due to investor's fears over Obama's socialist agenda.

Obama's multi-trillion dollar giveaway...

Does anyone know what the equivalent cost of Obama's multi-trillion dollar giveaway will be to each taxpayer or each family?

Putting it differently, how much would each person or family receive if all that money were distributed directly to the people?

I've heard figures all over the spectrum, from $10,000 to $25,000 to $35,000 to as much as $250,000, depending on whether it's per individual or per family, and whether it includes only taxpayers who actually pay taxes or everyone.

Cost So Far of Financial Bailout...

The New York Times did some taxpayer-bailout number crunching and found that through March 2, the government has made commitments of $9 trillion (that's $9,000,000,000,000) to support the struggling financial system, and actually so far spent $2.1 trillion (that's $2,100,000,000,000), on investments (purchases of assets), loans and insurance or guarantees.

...FOX Business’ Team Washington finds that the U.S. has spent $18,584 per household to shore up the financial system, and has committed a total of $79,646 per household. (What else would your share of the bailout buy?) ... We're sure the average belly-upped subprime borrower had all intentions of repaying his or her loan, too.

In addition to this spending to cure what ails the finance sector, the U.S. is planning to spend $6,965 per household to stimulate the economy.

What Can $79,646 Buy?

Not to beat that proverbial dead horse, but...

When I say the Right must establish the equivalent of MoveOn.Org and KOS, must analyze and understand their tactics, and must use many of those same tactics and techniques, that's but one of many approaches, actions, and tactics the Right must employ -- not the only one, and not necessarily one the GOP or the majority of Conservatives should use.

At this time, it would be counterproductive (and probably a disaster) for the GOP to use those tactics directly against Obama, or even encourage and condone them. In view of Obama's "current" popularity and near cult status, Liberals and Democrats would most certainly, and very effectively, redirect those attacks back on the GOP. Any such effort must be independent of the GOP, just as MoveOn.Org and KOS worked largely outside of, or at best, on the far left fringe of the Democrat Party... until their views and agenda became more accepted by a growing majority.

"RightOn.Org" can take the heat and hatred that will be directed against them, as long as they can dissociate their effort and actions from Republicans and the GOP. The GOP can't take the attacks without losing support and more voters.

On a tangent, that's why I think Steele may have been correct in distancing the GOP from Limbaugh -- at this time; why I think Steele may have been wrong in "apologizing" for his statements -- at this time; and and why I think Rush should distance himself more from the GOP -- at this time. Behind the scenes, however, Rush and Steele should still be friends and allies, but recognize reality and the current political environment.

(I'm not totally sure, however, that my views on Rush and Steele are correct. I might change my mind after a more thorough analysis and discussion on the issue.)

Now, forget about "RightOn.Org"...

There are many things Republicans and Conservatives can do, and tactics they can use without creating the problems associated with a "RightOn.Org".

When I talk about needing "experts in marketing and propaganda" (and effective writers) and sending out a series of short and concise e-mails, that doesn't mean I think, or that I'm suggesting, Republicans and Conservatives should start the type of e-mail campaign a RightOn.Org might conduct.

Now, carving the elephant into bite sized pieces (no pun intended)...

Does anyone think a concerted e-mail campaign could be used effectively by Conservatives and the GOP?

If so, how might it be done?

The Obama Magic Act... Fooling The American People

Obama now needs even more help to fool and manipulate the American people! As reported in The American Spectator, Obama's handlers want to install an inconspicuous teleprompter or computer screen in his podium so his staff of "media managers" and propagandists can surreptitiously feed him information on what to say and who to call on during news conferences.

"...some inside the White House don't think that President Barack Obama hit a home run with his first national press conference... It looked scripted beyond the scripted part ... this one was pretty ham-handed."

...the White House is looking to install a small video or computer screen into the podium ... [to] make it easier for the comms guys to pass along information without being obvious about it" ... The screen would indicate whom to call on, seat placement for journalists, pass along notes or points to hit, and so forth

...Using a screen is nothing new for Obama; almost nothing he said in supposedly unscripted townhall events during the presidential campaign was unscripted, down to many of the questions and the answers to those questions. ... not only his opening remarks, but also statistics and information he could use to answer questions.

Obama had a teleprompter set up for his remarks last week ...but the White House couldn't use the teleprompter for anything but the remarks, because the journalists were so close to the screens. ...

The screen must be small and out of public view so the American people (and the world) can't actually see how they are being manipulated by Obama as he reads from a carefully crafted and prepared speech, and how his "knowledge of the subject" is actually being fed to him by a staff of researchers.

We've already seen that Obama isn't too smart when he's speaking from his own knowledge and not reading from script. He continually sticks his foot in his mouth making dumb (but otherwise truthful) statements like "redistributing the wealth", or claiming to have visited "57 states" (with one more to go).

It's not that Obama is "being taken out of context", it's that when he's not following his pre-written prepared speech, he frequently slips and tells the truth... allowing the American people to see what he really means, and what he really intends to do to them and America.

Obama, don't continue to mislead and try to hide your obvious lack of knowledge. When you don't know the subject or the answers, fill in the time with some jokes; check with someone who actually does know the subject; and get back later with an answer!

Obama's news conferences can now be called the Obama Magic Act... just like a slight-of-hand magician, or a fake and deceptive "mind reader" performing before an audience, and being fed information through a concealed earpiece!
